![]() ![]() Initial production started in September 2022, but by February 2023, the company announced it was pausing the production and deliveries of the Endurance. The production of the Endurance has started, but it has seen its fair share of delays. The company also declared it had seen 100,000 pre-orders for the Endurance from prospective customers, a claim that attracted the attention of forensic financial research firm Hindenburg Research. It should be noted there was a time when the Endurance was expected to be a pioneer in the electric pickup truck segment, with Lordstown estimating it could beat rivals like Ford and Rivian to market. That was already notably lower than the range of comparable pickup trucks like the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T.Īlso noteworthy is Lordstown’s fall from grace over the years. As could be seen in its review from Car and Driver, Lordstown was expecting a range of just about 200 miles for the vehicle. What is unfortunate about the Endurance is the fact the vehicle already had conservative target specs to begin with. And considering the Endurance is a far smaller and lighter pickup truck than the hulking Hummer EV, its efficiency is evidently subpar. That’s comparable to the GMC Hummer EV, whose EPA documents pointed to a combined efficiency of 47 MPGe. The Lordstown Endurance all-electric pickup truck’s range estimate from the EPA has been released, and it is surprisingly low-a very conservative 174 miles of combined range, despite being equipped with a hefty 109-kWh battery pack.Ī look at the Endurance’s page on shows the vehicle only boasts 48 MPGe. It will be the company’s first model, so buyers will be eligible to claim the full, $7,500 tax credit from the federal government. The Endurance will carry a base price of $52,500 before incentives enter the equation. If you’re convinced by Lordtown’s approach to electrifying the pickup truck segment, you can send the company a refundable, $100 deposit to secure an early spot in line. Ramping up production in about a year sounds ambitious, even with a $40 million loan secured from General Motors. The company will rehire as many laid-off workers as possible they’re men and women who know the plant inside and out, and bring a tremendous amount of experience in car-making to the project. It purchased the Lordstown, Ohio, factory that General Motors closed in March 2019 and it plans to build the Endurance there starting in the fourth quarter of 2020. Lordstown at least has a significant advantage in this regard. Starting a car company that reliably makes millions of vehicles annually is more difficult than many assume. An on-board power outlet will let users run tools and charge their devices off the grid by drawing electricity from the battery pack. ![]() Lordstown pledged its truck will offer at least 200 miles of driving range, though it realistically needs twice that number to keep up with the competition and live up to its name, and it pegged the truck’s towing capacity at 6,000 pounds.
